“TEXTural” – Leslie Lowinger joins 34 other artists in an exhibition of works that incorporate letters, words and/or swathes of text – or any parts there of – in their art-making process.
THEME – Art and text have been interwoven for centuries – from ancient illustrated manuscripts to the ad copy/headline inspired works of Barbara Kruger – in every medium – the only limits are your imagination. For this exhibition, we are featuring artworks that incorporate letters, words, text – or any parts thereof – into the creative process.
As a lover of definitions, we found ‘textural’ captured the essence of this process:
Textural: Having a structure of interwoven elements; having a distinctive physical composition of something, especially with respect to the size, shape, and arrangement of its parts; the quality given to a piece of art, literature, or music by the interrelationship of its elements
